Successful 20 year celebration

The 20 year celebration of Cussen Park held on the morning of 6 October 2013 was a great success. The day began early with a guided bird watching tour, followed by brunch while viewing the photo displays and other items.  For the kids there was a gigantic snakes & ladders game plus the Waterwatch crew with various waterbugs on display.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Jenny Houlihan, welcomed everyone and unveiled a plaque to commemorate 50,000 volunteer hours put into developing and maintaining the park for the community. Chair of the Cussen Park advisory committee Simon Cowan then made a presentation to long-term committee member Terry Court for his huge input to park as unofficial caretaker since it’s inception. A magnificent cake was also cut to help celebrate the occasion.

The morning ended with a guided tour of the park, family scavenger hunt (thanks to Tatura Guides for organising this and Tatura Milk and Unilever for the prizes) and the opportunity to take home some native seedlings.
